Do you agree?

Over at Moeursalen News, they’ve written about Obama’s speech that is “Soporific and Sloppy”.

They go on to write:

Obama made an extraordinarily long and boring speech about “the economy” without mentioning a single thing that couldn’t been heard every single morning on Fox Financial News Network, Bloomberg Financial News (the NY Mayor’s broadcast network), or CNBC Financial.

The feeling of the article is that if Obama knows anything about the economy that he should get on shows that discuss the topic like Jim Cramer, Erin Burnett, Quintanilla, or Becky Quick .

What do you think?

U.S. Steel’s CEO Will Be A Guest on Cramer’s Mad Money (X)

Over at Street Insider

On this afternoon’s episode of Stop Trading!, Street Signs host, Erin Burnett, asked Jim Cramer about “the X” — U.S. Steel (NYSE: X).

As Cramer is hosting his shows from Penn State today, Cramer was pleased to announce that U.S. Steel’s CEO, John Surma, a Penn State alum, would be joining him on his Mad Money show tonight. Cramer told viewers that Surma has transformed U.S. Steel, creating “one of the best run industrial companies” in the world.

Cramer has been behind U.S. Steel for some time and seemed very excited to have Surma as a guest tonight.

Shares of U.S. Steel are having a great week on Wall Street: its stock price has risen nearly 10% from about $115 on Monday to $126 today. Notably, U.S. Steel’s price is quickly approaching its 52-week high of $127.26.

I couldn’t say it any better than that - so be sure to stop by the Street Insider and find out more about the interview.

Clear Channel Update

On CNBC, after talking to sources close to the sponsor CNBC’s Erin Burnett reveals that private equity still wants to get the Clear Channel deal done.

So what’s the hold up?

This time, however, instead of the buyers balking, the banks that had agreed to finance the deal have become apprehensive. Clear Channel Communications and the private equity buyers may go to court to try to force the banks to complete the buyout, according to people briefed on the negotiations, who were given anonymity because they were not authorized to discuss the deal.

The stocks look to be on the way down - but now seem to have evened out a bit.

You can read more about the Clear Channel Buyout here - where Clear Channel may sue to force the buyout .

Celebrity Apprentice with Erin and Jim

Celebrity ApprenticeErin Burnett and Jim Cramer were on Celebrity Apprentice to give their opinions on who should win this year’s Celebrity Apprentice.  Would it be Piers Morgan or Trace Adkins?  Piers was definitely the more ruthless of the two, while no one could go against Trace’s down home charm and was very well liked by his peers in the competition.

They went around to all the celebrities on the show and asked who should win this year’s Celebrity Apprentice - not that many voted for Piers.  But Piers got the job done.  He did it well - and I think in business there has to be that touch of ruthlessness to get ahead.

It’s not been an easy season to predict. Between the Piersarosa Wars, Stephen Baldwin’s Team Hydra ship-jumping, Nely taking on Trump in the boardroom, and Gene Simmons’ taking the bullet for Nely…there’s just been no obvious front-runner for the win. Even The Donald has had to appeal to others in the board room (Ivanka, Donnie Jr., Erin Burnett, Jim Cramer…) to help him decide who to fire on numerous occasions.

Was it exciting this year?  Were you surprised by the winner?

… I’m not :)
